I have many happy memories of our family trips to Hurstpierpoint as a child. Uncle David's career and experiences abroad were a great source of inspiration to me and all I wanted to do from a young age was jump on a plane a go somewhere exotic and different as a result. In school I proudly annouced to anyone who would listen that my uncle had an MBE. My parents have a great photo of Uncle David driving his silver Granada with me, my brother and sister sticking out of the sunroof beaming with delight.
